Description: Introduction to Multivariable Calculus. A synthesis of calculus and linear algebra, this is a fundamental course in the mathematics of curves, surfaces and volumes in three-dimensional space. Analysis of functions of several variables, vector valued functions, partial derivatives. Applications, introduction to optimization techniques.

Prerequisites: MA2012 and (MA1124 or MA1424 or MA1122 or MA1422 or MA1132)

Required materials:
Textbook: Single and Multivariable Calculus by Deborah Hughes-Hallett et al, published by J. Wiley & Sons
MATLAB: You should have a laptop issued to you by the university, and MATLAB should be installed on it.
Calculator: a graphing calculator equivalent to or better than the TI-82.
